Per Diem/Travel IOM Oppty — Washington DC metro area

If you are an IOM professional interested in earning additional income, we have a per-diem/travel opportunity in the Washington DC metro area.  You will cover basic spinal surgery, and travel expenses are covered.  All cases take place in pleasant, modern surgical centers.

Position details and requirements:

  • Clinical Requirements: CNIM + 2 years of clinical IOM experience
  • Case load: This can vary depending on your availability.  To be eligible, you’ll need flexibility to cover cases at least 2 morning weekdays per month.  Cases are typically over by 2pm.  There is no need for weekend or evening coverage.
  • The scenario: This is 1099, contracted PRN work and not a full-time position.  Procedures occur in surgical centers which makes credentialing a simple process.
  • Case Breakdown: 100% spine
  • Location: Washington DC Metro area (DC, VA, MD)
  • Compensation: Tiered system, based on your distance from Washington DC.  If you live within 75 miles, you’ll get $450/case or $650/case if you have your own Cadwell machine.  Anyone driving 75+ miles one-way or flying less than 2 hours would get $650/case.  If you must fly more than 2 hours, compensation is $800/case.  A small premium may be negotiated if you drive 75+ miles (or fly) and bring your own equipment, but supplies (electrodes, etc) will be provided.
  • Cancellations: If a case is canceled after you depart, you will be paid the full amount.
  • Travel logistics: Travel expenses are covered, including airfare, hotel, and automobile transportation.  The closest airport is DCA.  Cases are scheduled 7-10 days in advance, so you can plan for travel on your calendar.  If you drive more than 75 miles one-way, you’ll be reimbursed at the IRS rate for mileage.  If you fly, plan on arriving the evening before and departing the following afternoon.  In some instances, a 2-night stay with additional cases may be available.
  • Reliablity:  Reliablity is critical!  If you travel by plane, preference will be given to those with access to a major airport that has direct flights into DC.  We cannot afford to have “no shows” because connecting flights were cancelled or missed.  The utilization of major airports with multiple direct flights eliminates this risk exponentially.
